The company has recently unveiled the Radeon Pro WX 8200 workstation GPU (via Engadget) which is priced at $1,000. Now $1,000 for a GPU is a figure many might balk at, but when you consider the price that AMD is asking for for its Radeon Pro WX 9100, it is a lot cheaper. It is also comparable to NVIDIA’s Quadro P4000 which means that if your budget is around that range, you have some options to choose from.
The WX 8200 will feature a 2048-bit memory bus width and 14nm architecture, and also offers up 10.8 teraflops of performance. However in terms of VRAM, the WX 8200 will come with 8GB versus the 16GB of the WX 9100. According to Ogi Brkic, General Manager of Radeon Pro, “Professionals can fully unleash their creativity with the ‘Vega’ architecture at the heart of the Radeon Pro WX 8200 graphics card.”
He adds, “This powerful new workstation graphics card empowers creators to improve collaboration among remote teams with VR, create exciting new cinematic experiences and visualize their creations with ease, all at an incredible price point.”
