There is some good news on that front because according to “industry insider” Marcus Sellars via a series of deleted tweets (via Game Rant), apparently Nintendo could be launching a 4K Switch console in 2019. The tweet claims that the console will feature 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and “dynamic scaling” that will let it scale up games to 4K resolution.
Sounds good, doesn’t it? It should be taken with a grain of salt for now because as Game Rant notes, Sellars has a mixed track record when it comes to leaks and rumors. He has in the past accurately leaked information, but has also had some misses where earlier this year he claimed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 would be making its way onto the Switch.
That being said, we wouldn’t be surprised if Nintendo were to refresh the console after a few years to help keep gamers interested as they have done with their handheld consoles, but whether or not that will happen in 2019 and whether or not that refresh will have 4K support remains to be seen.
