Philips has its Hue smart lighting system which lets users install smart light bulbs into lamps, into light holders, and more. They also have smart LED lightstrips which does the same thing, except in lightstrip form which allows for more flexibility when it comes to choosing parts of the house to light up.
Now more recently, it seems that Philips has decided to venture into more integrated lighting solutions with the Philips Adore. As you can see in the image above, this is a bathroom mirror which basically takes advantage of Philips’ smart lighting system. This means that users will be able to control it using their mobile device, and given that it is also HomeKit compatible, it means that it can be automated.
For example the lights can be set to turn themselves on or off at certain times in the day, such as in the morning or at night, and might be useful if you’re particularly forgetful as you can get it to turn itself off. Unfortunately unlike the Hue lighting system which for the most part is known for its colorful RGB lighting, the Adore mirror only offers a “soft glow” and “cool white daylight” depending on your preference.
Then again we’re not sure if many people want their bathroom mirrors to start glowing green, pink, or purple anyway. The mirror itself offers a IP44 rating which means that it can survive some splashing and general humidity you might expect from a bathroom. It also measures 20-inches across. As for pricing, that was not mentioned but hopefully we’ll learn more soon.
