However over the years, Samsung hasn’t really changed much in terms of what the S Pen could do, although that might change with the Galaxy Note 9. In a report from Ice Universe, a leakster based in China, they have suggested that one of the changes to the S Pen in the Note 9 is that it might be able to control music playback.
The Galaxy Note9 SPen can be used to control long-range self-timer, control music playback, because it is a Bluetooth device, it will do something unrelated to the pen. pic.twitter.com/WPS83xUskq

The report claims that because the S Pen for the Note 9 will be Bluetooth-based device, it will be able to do more than just double up as a stylus. Like we said, this includes the ability for users to control music playback, but it could also act as a long-range self-timer for cameras, and possibly more.
If that is true, then there might be even more reason to get the Note 9 over the Galaxy S9 if you value those kinds of features. Safe to say that you should probably take the claims with a grain of salt for now, but Samsung has recently sent out invites for the Note 9’s announcement which is scheduled for the 9th of August, so it probably won’t be too long until we get the official details.
