HMD Global, the home of Nokia smartphones, jumped on the notched display bandwagon recently with the Nokia X6 that has so far only been available in China. The company is expected to release this handset in other markets in the coming weeks. It appears that HMD Global also has another smartphone with a notched display in the pipeline, it’s actually an upgraded version of the Nokia 5.1 that it launched at the Mobile World Congress 2018 back in February.

The Nokia 5.1 features a 5.5 inch display and the unique thing about it is that it’s powered by the MediaTek Helio P18 chip. It is as yet unclear if the same chip is going to power the Nokia 5.1 Plus as well.

The only assumption about this device so far based on its leaked image is that it may have a larger display. The notch is front and center in the leaked image, housing the front-facing camera, earpiece, and other sensors.

Another leaked image suggests that the handset may also feature a USB Type-C port. HMD Global shipped the Nokia 5.1 with a microUSB port which may not have made sense to many people considering we’re in 2018 and USB Type-C is the future.

No word as yet on when this handset is going to be available for purchase and how much it’s going to cost.
