MacBook Pro’s True Tone Will Extend To External Displays

When Apple launched the iPad Pro they introduced a new display called True Tone. This display basically relies on sensors to help correct the display to better reflect your environmental surroundings. This is because under certain lighting conditions, the colors you see on the screen might be off, and True Tone will help correct that.

Apple has since brought the feature over to their new iPhones and their latest MacBook Pro, and the good news is that it looks like external displays will be able to take advantage of the feature as well as long as they are connected to the new MacBook Pro. What this means is that if you work from home but want to work on a bigger screen but don’t want to give up on True Tone, this new feature should help address that.

However the bad news is that this won’t work with every monitor out there. In fact according to Apple, the new feature will only work with pretty much three monitors at the moment: the Apple Thunderbolt Display (which has since been discontinued), the LG UltraFine 5K, and the LG UltraFine 4K display.

Given the price of these monitors, it means that not everyone will be able to truly enjoy the new feature, but in case you do have any of these monitors, take note that you’ll be able to extend the True Tone display feature to them.
