For old school programmers, learning to code back in the day was a pretty dull affair where you had to learn what you needed to know from thick manuals. Things have definitely come a long way where companies are now coming up with ways to make programming fun and exciting to entice kids into picking up the skill.
In fact if you’re a parent looking to get your child into programming, you might be interested to learn that Kano has recently teamed up with the folks at Warner Bros. to launch a Harry Potter coding kit. This kit will include a build-it-yourself wand and a manual that will teach kids how to put the wand together, as well learn how to code through step-by-step challenges.
In fact what makes this wand particularly relevant is the fact that it comes with various sensors such as an accelerometer, magnetometer, and gyroscope, which are sensors found in many mobile devices today. This means that youngsters who can pick up the concepts of programming will be able to apply this to future mobile application programming as well.
According to Kano CEO and cofounder Alex Klein, “We’re surrounded by technology in our homes, workplaces and pockets, yet only a small percent of people, less than 1 percent of 1 percent, understand the happenings behind the screen. We are thrilled to partner with Warner Bros Consumer Products to inspire people of all ages, all over the world to make their own code, and see how easy it can be to understand, play and create with it.”
The Kano Harry Potter coding kit will cost $100 which is actually not too pricey which means that parents might be more willing to purchase it.
