Google Assistant Can Now Make Duo Calls For You

While the touchscreen definitely changed the way we interact with our mobile devices, things have definitely changed in recent years as there seems to be an increasing emphasis being made on voice commands made to digital assistants such as Alexa, Siri, and Google Assistant, thus removing the need to physically interact with our devices.

Now if you’re a Duo user, you might be interested to learn that Google has updated Google Assistant where it is now capable of making Duo calls. This is was spotted by the folks at Android Police where users can issue a voice command to ask Duo to call a contact and it will then initiate the video call on your device.

As Android Police notes, you will need to have Duo installed on your phone, and that the contact you’re trying to reach will probably also need to have Duo installed. If not it seems that Hangouts could be launched in its place. However what’s interesting is that this seems to be working differently for different users.

In some cases the app is launched but no calls are made, but in other cases the call is actually made. We’re not sure what’s with the discrepancies and if it could be that this is a bug, but do take note of it if this is a feature that you’re planning on taking advantage of.
