Arlo, owned by Netgear, today announced the launch of a new smart doorbell which is fully compatible with its security cameras and security lights. The wire-free Arlo Audio Doorbell is meant as a replacement for the conventional doorbell. It provides a host of smart features to make users’ lives easier.
Every time someone rings the Arlo Audio Doorbell, the app will call the user’s smartphone so that they can speak to their visitors. Users can also configure the app to send a pre-recorded greeting when the doorbell is rung.
The product can easily be integrated with the existing conventional doorbell’s wiring but it can be used as a wireless doorbell as well. It only requires two AA batteries. Netgear says that it observed during testing that the batteries in the doorbell can last for almost a year.
For those who don’t want to be constantly called by their doorbell the company offers the Arlo Chime. It can be plugged into regular outlets and users can place as many of these as they want around the house. The Arlo Chime provides customizable audio alerts which is good when the user doesn’t happen to have their smartphone on them.
The pricing information hasn’t been confirmed as yet but the company has confirmed that the doorbell will be available for purchase this fall.
