To be more specific, they will stop support iOS 7 and older come 1st February, 2020. This is still a couple of years away and to WhatsApp’s credit, this means that they would have supported iOS 7 for about 7 years by the time support does come to an end. This is pretty decent and like we said, the nature of iOS updates usually means that there are many who have probably updated and upgraded by then.
The post also states that they will stop supporting Android Gingerbread in 2020, and the Nokia S40 after the 31st of December, 2018 which we guess shouldn’t be surprising. Either way this news doesn’t come as a surprise in general, but in case for whatever reason you still have an iOS device running on iOS 7 or older in 2020, note that WhatsApp will no longer be supported on it.
