However some of you might have heard that in a report from earlier this year, there were claims to suggest that Verizon could be shutting the service down soon. It turns out the reports were right because Verizon has officially announced that Go90 will be shutting down in the coming month, or to be more specific, the service will be shutting down on the 31st of July.
In a statement made to Variety, a Verizon rep was quoted as saying, “Following the creation of Oath, Go90 will be discontinued. Verizon will focus on building its digital-first brands at scale in sports, finance, news and entertainment for today’s mobile consumers and tomorrow’s 5G applications.”
We suppose this was a long time coming because back in 2017, the company had laid off 155 employees. However if you think that spells the end of Verizon’s video efforts, think again as last year there were reports that the company could be planning a launch of a new video service in the spring of 2018.
