The company wrote on its website, “Venmo has decided to phase out some of the functionality on the Venmo.com website over the coming months. We are beginning to discontinue the ability to pay and charge someone on the Venmo.com website, and over time, you may see less functionality on the website – this is just the start.”
Users are already reporting that they are receiving notices when they try to make payments through its website, where they are told that they will need to download the Venmo app in order to do so. It is possible that due to the fact that Venmo is a subsidiary of PayPal that by focusing only on mobile, it will help set the services apart from each other, since they both deal with P2P transfers.
In any case for those who use Venmo to make transfers, this is something you’ll want to take note of and maybe start getting used to.
