The good news is that in a report from The New York Times, it appears that President Donald Trump has promised Apple’s CEO Tim Cook that he will not be placing tariffs on iPhones assembled in China. Of course that’s just what the US is planning to do for the company, but at the same time it is unclear how China will react.
There are concerns that the tensions could result in China making it difficult for companies such as Apple to operate in the country, whether it be manufacturing devices, selling them, or clearing their exports in a timely manner. Of course all of this remains to be seen, but Chinese companies such as Foxconn have been working to bring some of their operations over to the US. Whether or not Apple will be taking advantage of these facilities in the future is unclear.
