Third Lawsuit Filed Against Apple Over The MacBook Pro’s Keyboard

By now we suppose it’s pretty obvious that there are many MacBook Pro users who aren’t particularly thrilled with the keyboard design on the laptops. So much so that not one, but two lawsuits have since been filed against the company over the design. Unfortunately for Apple that’s not quite the end of their problems yet.

According to Patently Apple (via Cult of Mac), a third lawsuit has since been filed against the Cupertino company. The lawsuit is asking for, “monetary, declaratory and equitable relief for Apple’s: 1) breach of its express and implied warranties; 2) breach of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act and the Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act; 3) breach of the duty of good faith and fair dealing; 4) breach of California’s Unfair Competition Law; 5) breach of California’s Consumers Legal Remedies Act; and 6) fraudulent concealment.”

One of the reasons behind these lawsuits is due to the design, which Apple changed a couple of years ago when they introduced the 12-inch Retina MacBook. However many users have found that the new keyboards are prone to more problems compared to the older design, something that an earlier report from AppleInsider also found to be true.

The problem is also in its repair because not only would the entire keyboard need to be swapped out, but the fact that it is glued to other MacBook Pro components means that those need to be removed as well, which according to the latest lawsuit could cost customers as much as $700.
