When Bethesda announced and launched Fallout Shelter a couple of years ago, it was a surprise as Bethesda had never really bothered to dabble in mobile games. However the game proved to be a huge hit and made quite a bit of money for the company, so it’s not really surprising that Bethesda is trying their hand at it again.
This time it comes in the form of The Elder Scrolls: Blades, which as the name has probably given it away, will be a game based on The Elder Scrolls franchise. Blades would not be the first Elder Scrolls game to be launched on mobile, that honor goes to The Elder Scrolls: Legends. However unlike Legends which is a card game, Blades will actually be a full RPG.
According to Bethesda, “Blades contains the many hallmarks Elder Scrolls fans enjoy from the franchise – beautifully rendered, console-quality environments, powerful magic, tons of gear to collect, upgradeable skills and of course, real-time fantasy battles! Fights are settled using the touchscreen to slash your sword, deflect oncoming attacks, cast a mighty bolt of lightning and more.”
The game will also be free-to-play, much like Fallout Shelter, although gamers can probably expect some microtransactions, but whether or not it will end up being a pay-to-win game remains to be seen. Gamers who are interested can sign up for a chance at early access on its website.
