Telltale has delivered some great episodic games so far, including Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead, so it won’t be surprising for many of its fans to hear that it has decided to produce a new series based on Netflix’s hit show Stranger Things. Netflix has also confirmed that the Stranger Things project is in the works over at Telltale Games.
The confirmation of a Stranger Things game follows a recent deal between Telltale Games and Netflix which brings Minecraft: Story Mode to the streaming service. Netflix has confirmed that the Stranger Things project is separate from this deal so it may not be immediately released on the streaming service.
Telltale Games has said in a statement that it’s developing a game based on Stranger Things that it’s going to publish to “consoles and computers at a later date.” It hasn’t shared anything else about the new series at this point in time but promises to provide more details about it later this year.
A report claims that the series, set in the Stranger Things universe, was supposed to be launched alongside season 2 of the show but was postponed. It’s unclear as yet when this new game may be launched.
