Just like Blizzard, Bethesda’s franchises are kept pretty small where the company is probably best known for Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, Doom, and Quake, just to name a few. However it looks like Bethesda will be launching a brand new IP in the form of Starfield, a game which the company was rumored to have been working on for the past few years.
For those unfamiliar, Starfield was a trademark that Bethesda’s parent company ZeniMax filed for a couple of years ago, but it seems that it is only at E3 2018 that Bethesda confirmed that the game does indeed exist. Unfortunately details are scarce to the point of there being almost nothing, except to say that the game will be based in space and that it is a “next-generation” game.
Exactly what this means is unclear, but Bethesda’s Todd Howard did confirm that the game would be designed for next-gen consoles. What does this mean? This means that if you were hoping to see the game anytime soon, be prepared to wait because analysts have suggested that next-gen consoles are only expected to arrive in 2020.
Perhaps Bethesda will share more details in the coming months or years, but for those this will be a brand new IP from the company that gamers can look forward to.
