Lucasfilm has started working on A Star Wars Story spinoff movies only recently, the first being Rogue One. Solo: A Star Wars Story was the second movie in this spinoff series but it didn’t receive the kind of response that Lucasfilm had hoped for. Some critics have given it negative reviews as well so the bad reception and the negative reviews have apparently pushed Lucasfilm to take a step back. A new report claims that all Star Wars Story spinoff movies have been put on hold.
The report comes from Collider which has heard from sources with knowledge of the situation that Lucasfilm has decided to put plans for more A Star Wars Story spinoff movies on hold and that it’s going to focus more on Star Wars: Episode IX instead and the next trilogy of Star Wars films which will be made after that. This means that fans can give up on hope for a standalone Obi-Wan movie or a Boba Fett movie.
Solo fell short of box office expectations as it brought in $84.4 million on opening weekend and pulled in a domestic gross of $192.8 million, reaching $339.5 million worldwide. Most movies will only dream of achieving these figures but when weighed against the Star Wars benchmark, Solo failed to live up to expectations.
If the report is accurate, Lucasfilm will now focus more on Episode IX and the new trilogy which will follow after that, the next trilogy will be focused on the new characters from The Last Jedi.
