EA’s Origin Access game service for PC has a major limitation in that it only offers old titles to subscribers and now the company wants to rectify that. It has announced a new tier of the service called Origin Access Premier which will provide subscribers with access to the latest games. They will be able to access the titles before their official launch date for PCs.
EA has confirmed that Origin Access Premier will provide PC gamers with new games such as Battlefield V, FIFA 19, Madden NFL 19, and Anthem before launch. They won’t have to put up with a trial phase or waiting. They will just be able to play the titles as long as they’re paying for the service.
What’s unclear at this point in time how much the Origin Access Premier tier is going to cost but EA has confirmed that the tier is going to be available this summer. The move is similar to Microsofts recent decision to ensure same-day availability for first-party titles through Xbox Game Pass.
EA also mentioned that it’s working on another option which will enable gamers to stream its games in HD on smartphones and other devices. It hasn’t revealed a lot of information about this service at this point in time but EA is evidently working on a service similar to Sony’s PlayStation Now game streaming service.
