It should be noted that Lyft’s new app isn’t about a visual overhaul or introducing a new design. Instead according to the company, “Today, we’re announcing a new version of the Lyft app that improves shared rides, integrates directly with cities and transit agencies, and simplifies our passengers’ overall experience.”
This comes in the form of focusing on shared ride experiences, where according to Lyft, the new design has resulted in a 5% increased in users picking Shared rides. There will also be better integration with public transit where Lyft claims to have “transit partnerships with more than 25 cities and counties across the US”.
The update is also expected to help simplify the app’s experience, such as offering users the best ride options at a glance, and also adding a “one tap to ride” feature that lets users quickly request their most frequent ride types and destinations. The updated app is said to be live and in the process of being rolled out to all users.
