Speaking to GameSpot, the game’s producer Ben Haumiller confirmed that the game would not be launching on the Switch. “We always think about every platform out there. It’s really a decision of what’s best for Madden and us as EA and where we’re going. You never rule out getting your game in front of players. You want to go where everyone is. We’d never rule it out. We just don’t have any current plans right now.”
However Haumiller’s wording and phrasing by saying “right now” suggests that they might change their mind in the future. Gamers probably shouldn’t hold their breath considering what EA said in the past about bringing more games onto the Switch. The company had launched games on the Switch in the form of FIFA 18 and stated that they would bring more games if FIFA 18 did well.
We don’t have the numbers but presumably FIFA 18 on the Switch wasn’t quite as well-received as EA had hoped, which is why Madden 19 is passing on the console. Perhaps EA might change their mind in the future, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
