ASUS has launched a handful of new products at Computex 2018 today and the ROG Delta Type-C gaming headset is one of them. While the headset adopts the USB Type-C standard for futureproofing, it ships with a Type-A adapter so that the headset is backward compatible with legacy USB ports. Perhaps the biggest selling point of this new headset is its built-in quad-DAC.
The ASUS ROG Delta has four DACs each of which devotes its processing power to a subset of the audible frequency range, lows from 20-150Hz, mids from 150-5,000Hz, highs from 5,000-20,000Hz, and ultra-highs from 20,000-40,000Hz.
These four signals are then combined to provide clearer sound with an impressive 127-dB SNR which is higher than what typical mobile devices or even high-end motherboards can power. The DACs are backed up by 50-mm Essence drivers which ASUS also uses for its Strix Fusion series to provide users with rich stereo sound.
The headset also doubles down on comfort with the ear cushions being designed to envelop the ears to lock in sound while maintaining a close fit. The inner walls of the cushions are lined with synthetic leather to improve acoustic isolation.
Owners will be able to create a personalized glow with a range of colors and effects using Aura Sync. The RBG lighting in the headset will be available as a single zone with the headset is launched in the coming weeks but a software update in the fall will split the RGB LEDs into eight zones for more customization.
ASUS hasn’t confirmed the price for its ROG Delta Type-C headset just yet but has revealed that it will be available for purchase this summer.
