Now according to a report from Variety, it has been reported that Apple has teamed up with the folks at Sesame Workshop to create original kids’ shows. However given the emphasis on originality, the bad news is that parents who were hoping that Sesame Street would be part of this deal will be disappointed to learn that it won’t. Instead Sesame Street will continue their deal with HBO as well as air on PBS.
That being said, this deal will see Sesame Workshop produce both live-action and animated video content, along with a new puppet series for Apple. Details about the shows are scarce, but if anything it is a sign of Apple’s growing interest in obtaining video content for its upcoming streaming service.
We have heard that Apple is planning its own streaming service and while we’ve seen the company secure quite a few big names from Hollywood, details are next to none on how Apple plans on launching it, but hopefully we’ll have those details in the near future.
