Upcoming Windows 10 Update Makes Grabbing Screenshots Easier

Looking to grab a screenshot on your Windows computer? There are several options that you can use, such as pressing the Print Screen button on your keyboard. There is also another method of screenshotting, especially if you don’t want the entire screen and that is through a combination of the WIN + Shift + S key.

It seems straightforward enough, but Microsoft has announced that in an upcoming Windows 10 update, they’ll be making grabbing screenshots easier and with more powerful editing tools. According to Microsoft, “WIN + Shift + S will now bring up a snipping toolbar – snip a rectangle, something a bit more freeform, or full screen and it will go straight to your clipboard. If that’s all you need, you can take it from there.”

They add, “Want more, though? Immediately after taking a snip you’ll now get a notification that will take you and your snip to the Screen Sketch app where you can annotate and share away!” They’ve also made it easier for users who use stylus pens to interact with their computers, such as pressing on the pen tail if you’ve got a compatible stylus.

Usres will also be able to use Print Screen to launch the screen snipping tool if they wish, along with a quick action button in the Action Center to bring up the tool. These features are now available in the Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 17661 (RS5) and should find their way to non-Insiders in a future update.
