Vine was quite popular many years ago and it ended up being acquired by Twitter in 2013. The microblogging network didn’t really provide it with the kind of support that the community might have been expecting. Moreover, Instagram took the looping video concept to another level so Vine’s graph gradually declined. Vine was then shut down by Twitter. Its co-founder Dom Hofmann recently revealed that he has been working on a successor called v2 and that it would be released this summer. However, Vine fans will be disappointed to know that Hofmann has now confirmed that he has postponed the development of this project indefinitely.
Hofman had confirmed back in November last year that he was working on the spiritual successor to Vine called v2 and that it was going to be released in summer 2018. With summer just around the corner, many would have been expecting to hear some good news about its release soon.
That’s not going to happen, though, as Hofmann has confirmed that he has indefinitely postponed the development of v2 because he can’t find a way past the “financial and legal hurdles.”
Hofmann added that the decision has been made to postpone the development indefinitely, which means that it might take a long time before the project gets back on track again, if that’s ever going to happen that is. For now, Vine fans who were hoping to relive the old days with v2 can just keep their fingers crossed and hope that v2 sees the light of day at some point in the future.
