U.S. Cellular Finally Releases Oreo For Galaxy S8

We reported last week that even though the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ have received Android 8.0 Oreo on most carriers in the United States, there was one smaller carrier that was yet to release the much-awaited update. That carrier was U.S. Cellular which has made its users wait considerably for a taste of Oreo. The wait ends for them today as U.S. Cellular has finally released the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+.

Many of the carriers that have already updated the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ on their networks to Oreo have even released further updates after the major platform update to bring security patches to the handset. U.S. Cellular hadn’t even done that because the units on its network weren’t on the latest iteration of Android.

Android 8.0 Oreo is now being rolled out by U.S. Cellular for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. It brings new features to the handset such as autofill API, notification dots, picture-in-picture mode, and more. It also includes version 9.0 of Samsung Experience which is the company’s custom skin for the operating system.

U.S. Cellular has started rolling out this update for those who own these handsets on its network over-the-air so it might take a while before it goes live for everyone.
