U.S. Cellular Galaxy S8 And Galaxy S8+ Yet To Receive Oreo

It has been a couple of months since carrier-locked variants of the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+ started receiving the Android 8.0 Oreo update in the United States. All four major carriers have released the update already but users on a smaller carrier, U.S. Cellular to be precise, have yet to make the jump. The carrier has still not released the Oreo update for these handsets.

Some of the carriers have even released the monthly security updates for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ on their networks after rolling out Oreo but it’s a different situation over at U.S. Cellular. It hasn’t even updated the S8/S8+ units on its network to Oreo, let alone release the patches that came after it.

Those who are using these handsets on U.S. Cellular have taken to multiple online forums to raise their voice. They’re understandably upset that there’s no word from the carrier so far about when it’s going to release the much-awaited update for their handsets.

U.S. Cellular had mentioned on Twitter last month that the update would be out in the first week of April but that obviously didn’t happen. The last status update it gave on Twitter merely said that there’s no exact date and that the Oreo update will be released for the devices “when it is ready.”

Nobody knows right now when that’s going to happen.
