Last week Valve announced that they would be launching a Steam Link app for mobile devices. While it is not to be confused with the Steam Link gadget, in practice it more or less does the same thing where users can stream their games on Steam to their mobile devices via the app so that they can play PC games on their phones.
The good news is that if you were looking forward to the launch of the app, you’ll be pleased to learn that it is now available on Android in beta form. This means that gamers with Android devices will be able to take it for a spin, but note that since the app is in beta, it means that there might be some kinks that have yet to be worked out, and features that aren’t necessarily guaranteed to make the final cut.
We’re not sure if it is stable enough to be used daily, but like we said if you’re curious as to how this will work and if it is a viable way of playing games, then you can take it for a spin via the Google Play Store. Now given that our smartphone’s touchscreen displays aren’t necessarily the best controllers for certain games, you’ll probably want to pair it with a Bluetooth controller.
Alternatively if you own a Steam Controller, Valve has recently introduced support for Bluetooth for the controller that will let you pair it with your smartphone or tablet.
