If you have hooked up a 2018 Samsung QLED TV to your gaming setup then the latest update that Samsung is sending out for these TVs will appeal to you quite a lot. The company is adding FreeSync support to its 2018 lineup of QLED TVs to allow for a smoother gaming experience. FreeSync support will reduce screen tearing during gaming sessions and enable overall fluid visuals.

Samsung talked about its partnership with Microsoft’s Xbox business during the unveiling event of these TVs so those who have an Xbox One X will now be able to take full advantage of FreeSync support on the 2018 QLED TV lineup.

The FreeSync update is now rolling out for Samsung’s 2018 NU8000, Q6FN, Q7FN, Q8FN, and Q9FN models. Once the latest firmware update is installed on these TVs, the FreeSync option can be found under Game Mode in the settings menu.

However, enabling FreeSync support means that users will have to make compromises in other places. For example, there’s only support for 1080p resolution with FreeSync enabled right now and Samsung also points out that once the feature is enabled, users may notice random quirks with the TVs brightness. That may not prevent many from giving it a shot since the more fluid visuals will certainly allow for a much better gaming experience on Samsung’s gorgeous new QLED TVs.
