In a post on Steam, the game’s developer revealed that they worked with authorities over in China which led to the arrest of 15 hackers who have been accused of developing cheats for the game. The punishment of these hackers also seems to be particularly harsh where they have been fined around $5.1 million for their actions.
PUBG also confirmed that some of these hacks/cheats did more than just let players cheat in the game, but also hid malware that allowed the hackers to steal the user’s information as well. “The longstanding rumor that hacking/cheating programs extract information from users’ PCs has been confirmed to be true. Using illegal programs not only disrupts others, but can end up with you handing over your personal information.”
Will this be the end of cheating in PUBG? The game does have a problem with cheats at the moment, but hopefully this down will discourage other hackers from creating similar cheats in the future.
