It has only been a couple of days since NVIDIA started rolling out the much-awaited Android 8.0 Oreo update for the SHIELD TV. Since the update was being rolled out in phases, it hadn’t arrived for all users as yet and those who didn’t get it will now have to wait for a bit longer because NVIDIA has decided to halt the rollout of the Oreo update for this device due to “a couple of issues.”
The SHIELD TV Android Oreo update brings a new user interface for the device which features a revamped main screen that offers a lot of customization options. Some new shortcuts were added to the system as well through this update.
There were plenty of improvements in this update but apparently, some bugs remained which have pushed NVIDIA to stop the release. A tech support rep on the GeForce forums confirmed that the firmware update is no longer being rolled out.
The rep doesn’t offer much detail about the issues in question but some reports suggest that users have been experiencing unexplained disconnections from Wi-Fi networks.
“We’ve uncovered a couple issues thanks to feedback from our preview program that we’d like to fix prior to rolling out SHIELD TV Experience Upgrade 7.0 to more users,” the rep said, adding that the company is actively working to resolve the issues and hopes to restart the roll out in the near future.
