The company would instead choose to focus only on its flagship phones which was an interesting choice given that many Android OEMs tend to release multiple handsets. However if you were hoping to see the company return to more budget offerings, you could be in for a wait because according to OnePlus CEO Pete Lau, they will be sticking to their current strategy for the foreseeable future, or at least until 2021 at the earliest.
The reason behind this is due to cost efficiency, where as it stands OnePlus is still a relatively small company compared to the likes of Apple or Samsung, which means that churning out multiple phones runs the risk of them spreading themselves too thin. Instead OnePlus will focus on its flagship phones and will attempt to shift any/all remaining stock ahead of the next release.
They are also avoiding having old handsets be sold alongside its new ones, as they found that demand for that wasn’t high enough to warrant them to continue making its older phones along with its newer ones.
