With Amazon leading the smart speaker market, many companies are now coming out with similar products to try their luck and see if they can get a piece of the pie as well. It’s easier said than done, though, but we’re surely going to see a lot of Amazon Echo rivals down the line. According to a report, Microsoft is working on a new smart speaker with Taiwanese manufacturer Quanta. The project is said to be in the early stages at this point in time which means that the project is open to changes.
The smart speaker will reportedly be introduced in the market under Microsoft’s own brand and it’s obviously going to be powered by Cortana, the company’s digital assistant. The company previously teamed up with Harman Kardon to launch a similar product called the Invoke but it hasn’t done much in this space since then.
Microsoft reportedly has its own design for the smart speaker but since the project is said to be in the early stages, the possibility exists that changes might be made to it. No further information about the technical specifications of this product have been revealed as yet.
It’s unclear right now when this product might hit the market. Seeing as how it’s in the early stages of development, it might take some time before the company’s new smart speaker hits the market.
