Are you thinking about buying a MacBook Pro? If you are, you might have to hold off for a couple of weeks if you think you can wait. This is because there is a chance that the laptops are due for a refresh, as noted by Mac Observer who points out that the shipping dates are starting to slip for some of the existing models.
While some of the MacBook Pro models are still shipping out in as fast as one day, some, such as the 13-inch MacBook Pro without the Touch Bar, have slipped to the 6th of June. The slipping of the shipping dates seems to indicate that Apple is running low on stock, which could also suggest that on the production side of things, Apple could be winding down production of the current model in favor of a newer model.
Alternatively it could just be a slight hiccup in Apple’s supply chain as we have seen in the past. However it should be pointed out that it has been almost a year since the MacBook Pros were refreshed, which means that based on Apple’s refresh cycle, they’re probably due for upgrades anyway.
We doubt that we will be seeing major changes made to the new laptops since the inclusion of the Touch Bar and Touch ID were pretty big changes already. Chances are we might see the use of new Intel processors and maybe the use of new GPUs, but either way we’ll keep our eyes peeled to see if there are any announcements made during WWDC 2018 which kicks off next month.
