6.1-inch LCD iPhone Could Use Same Display Tech As LG G7

Word on the street has it that 2018 will not be the year that Apple will be going full OLED. Instead the rumors are claiming that Apple is expected to keep at least one LCD model around in the form of the 6.1-inch iPhone. Now according to new reports, it looks like more details about the iPhone have emerged.

According to Business Korea (via 9to5Mac), it seems that the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone could be using the same display tech as the LG G7. The display is developed by LG and is known as MLCD+ which differs from regular LCDs by adding a white subpixel, ultimately resulting in a brighter display which is one of the features that LG boasted about its flagship handset where it would be capable of topping 1,000 NIT brightness.

This is actually not the first time that such rumors have surfaced because Patently Apple had also offered up similar speculation. We suppose it wouldn’t be a complete surprise when you consider the fact that Apple and LG have been working together for a while now. Plus there have also been rumors that LG was supposed to provide OLEDs for Apple’s iPhones this year.

In any case take it with a grain of salt for now but if the rumors are true, then it looks like the 6.1-inch iPhone could sport a display that might appeal to those who have need for a brighter display.
