The good news is that if you’re a Firefox user, you’ll be pleased to learn that the latest release of Firefox will come with support for Web Authentication. For those unfamiliar with Web Authentication, this is a new standard that was recently introduced that aims to do away with passwords.
Instead it will rely on other methods of security, such as biometrics or USB keys like the YubiKey which authenticates the computer it is plugged in, thus never having to use typed passwords ever again. However this is only in theory because websites will need to adopt support for Web Authentication for it to work, but it is a start and we suppose it is only a matter of time before more websites do.
For those who are interested in getting their hands on the latest build of Firefox, head on over to Mozilla’s website for the details if you don’t have it already.
