If you’ve used Google Maps on iOS for navigation, you might be familiar with the arrow icon that is used to depict the user on the map. However it looks like Google is changing things up by giving users more customization options in the form of vehicle icons, where users can now choose which vehicle they want in place of the arrow.According to Google, “There’s now a new way to customize your drive on Google Maps for iOS. Depending on your mood, you can swap out the classic blue navigation arrow for a new icon—a stylish sedan, a timeless pickup truck, or a speedy SUV. Get started by tapping on the arrow while in driving navigation mode to select your vehicle of choice, and hit the road with a brand new car, so you can have that new car feeling without the down payment.”
It’s not a particularly huge change but like we said, if you do use Google Maps frequently on iOS and want to shake things up a bit, these customization options should help keep things fresh and new. These new options should already be live so if you are an iOS user, you’ll want to make sure that you have the latest version of Google Maps installed to be able to check it out.
To access new icons, all you need to do is select your destination, start the navigation, and tap the arrow icon in which a menu will be brought up showing users the different icons that they’ll be able to choose from.
