According to the latest rumor which is based on a tweet by Ice Universe (via SamMobile), Samsung’s 2019 flagship smartphone is expected to sport a display with a pixel density of over 600 PPI. At the moment the Samsung Galaxy S9 h as a pixel density of 570 PPI, which means that for Samsung to increase it even further they would either have to shrink the display size or increase the resolution, and chances are it could be the latter.
Rumored that the screen resolution of the Galaxy S10 will exceed 600PPI

For those unfamiliar with the importance of pixel density, basically the more pixels that can fit into a single area, the sharper the image will be. This is why smartwatches can get away with low resolutions because of their small displays, even a 320×320 resolution will look relatively sharp.
It is unclear as to what resolution we might be looking at, but the next logical step would be to go 4K. We’ve seen Sony attempt to do with the Xperia XZ2 Premium, so it wouldn’t be a complete surprise if Samsung were to try something similar as well. In any case it’s probably best to take this report with a grain of salt for now.
