So far most of the accidents we’ve seen did not result in the death of the user, but unfortunately that is not the case with the latest incident that took place in Florida. According to a report from The Washington Post (via Gizmodo), a 38-year man from Florida was reportedly killed after his vape had exploded.
When firefighters discovered the body of the man in his room, it was unclear as to what might have caused his death as he had burns that covered 80% of his body. However according to the Pinellas-Pasco Medical Examiner’s report, the official cause of death is due to a “projectile wound of head”, which presumably were from the shrapnel from his vape when it exploded.
The vape community is a rather passionate community and more often than not, vapers tend to mod their devices in order for it to produce more smoke, which are sometimes used in competitions/contests to see who can produce the most amount of smoke.
