ESPN+ Will Broadcast League Of Legends Competitions Live
ESPN recently launched its sports streaming service called ESPN+ and among other things, it will begin streaming exclusive UFC fights next year. The company has now announced that it’s adding e-sports to the mix as well. It’s going to start broadcasting several League of Legends championships live from this summer. The LoL esports competitions will be available on ESPN+ as part of a new multi-year agreement that the company has signed with developer Riot Games.
The first League of Legends competition to be broadcast live on ESPN+ is the 2018 North American League of Legends Championship Series Summer Split which kicks off on June 16th. ESPN+ subscribers will be able to watch it live through the ESPN app and the service’s website.
The NA LCS is one of the biggest LoL league in the region with 10 teams facing off against each other twice throughout the season. A total of 18 matches each are played with every team playing once per day. The competition is divided into two splits – Spring and Summer with the matches streaming live on ESPN+ on Saturdays and Sundays.
The NA LCS Summer Finals will take place at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, CA on September 8-9 while the third place match will be on Saturday, September 9. Once the Summer Split is completed, only three teams will qualify for the League of Legends World Championship which takes place in South Korea this fall.
