BlackBerry launched the KeyOne handset last year and if recent reports are to be believed, the company will soon be launching the successor to that handset in the coming months. BlackBerry is yet to confirm anything about this device officially but word on the street is that it’s going to be called the BlackBerry Key2 and that it’s going to retain the full QWERTY keyboard that the fans know and love. The release of BlackBerry’s next flagship draws near as it picks up vital certifications.
The BlackBerry Key2 has now received its Bluetooth and Wi-Fi certifications. These steps are important for an upcoming device so the certifications normally give an indication of an impending launch. The time is also right for BlackBerry to launch a successor to the KeyOne so it may only be a matter of time before the BlackBerry Key2 is officially announced.
There isn’t a lot of information available about this handset, though. What is known for sure is that it’s made by TCL which is now the exclusive manufacturing partner for BlackBerry-branded handsets and that it’s going to be powered by Android since BlackBerry has ditched its own operating system.
It’s expected that the BlackBerry Key2 will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 processor with 6GB of RAM. It may also feature a dual camera at the back, a USB Type-C port, and ship with Android 8.0 Oreo.
