2018 iPhones Might Come With USB-C Fast Charge Adapter

Android phones have for the past couple of years been marketing fast charging as a selling point, and it was only with Apple’s 2017 iPhone models that the company finally brought fast charging to its smartphones. However even then it was a somewhat messy process due to the fact that Apple does not bundle the correct adapter.

As you can see on Apple’s support page, users would require an Apple 29W, 61W, or 87W USB-C Power Adapter along with a USB-C to Lightning cable, none of which are bundled with Apple’s iPhones. However that could change this year, where a post on Weibo (via Cult of Mac) has suggested that Apple could bundle USB-C fast charge adapters with their iPhones this year.

The report claims that the charger bundled will be of the 18W variety and it will also include a USB-C to Lightning cable. While we can’t confirm the former, the latter actually makes sense because Apple is starting to phase out USB-A ports on its computers in favor of USB-C, which means that for those with newer MacBook laptops, the USB-C to Lightning cable would be a much welcome accessory as it means not having to deal with dongles just to charge their iPhones.

Take it with a grain of salt for now, but a recent report has also revealed that Apple might not include Lightning to 3.5mm headphone jack adapters for this year’s iPhones.
