If you’re a big fan of augmented reality and Star Wars then you’re really going to like the new AR experience that’s now available for your smartphone. It’s now possible to play Star Wars Holochess on the iPhone in all of its augmented reality glory. Fans of the movie franchise will remember that this game only had a few seconds of screen time but the concept was much appreciated by fans and they will now be able to bring it to life.
Those who wanted to play this game previously needed to have Lenovo’s augmented reality headset to play the game within the Star Wars: Jedi Challenges app on iOS. That requirement has now been waived and you can play Star Wars Holochess without having the headset.
This new AR experience for the iPhone uses Apple’s augmented reality platform to bring augmented reality content to users without requiring them to buy special hardware. It’s meant to expand AR experiences to as many people as possible.
iPhone users should be able to get 2-3 hours of gameplay out of Holochess on their iPhones but if they want to get more then they’ll have to pick up the headset for more Star Wars experiences.
