A gesture-based navigation system was introduced for the OnePlus 5T in the OxygenOS Beta Program back in January this year. Those who have used the beta will attest that the navigation gestures appear to be inspired by the iPhone X. After being exclusive to the beta program for a few months, the new navigation gestures are now rolling out for the OnePlus 5T in a new public update.
The company has released OxygenOS 5.1.0 to all users today and it’s going to bring the new navigation gestures to all OnePlus 5T users across the globe.
The gestures can be enabled from the settings menu and once that’s done, the navigation buttons that Android users are hidden for gestures. Users can swipe up from the middle to go to the Home screen and swipe up from the left or right to for Back. They can also swipe up from the middle and hold to see Recents.
That’s not all this latest firmware update for the OnePlus 5T brings. It also upgrades both the OnePlus 5T and the OnePlus 5 to Android 8.1 Oreo with the latest security patch for the month of April.
OnePlus has also updated the gaming mode with power saving features aside from a network boost which will prioritize the data or Wi-Fi connection for the game that’s being played.
