HMD Global, the Finnish company that makes Nokia-branded smartphones now, launched an updated version of its budget handset Nokia 6 in China earlier this year in January. The company was eventually going to release the Nokia 6 (2018) in other markets as well. Nokia fans in the United States who were looking forward to this device will now be able to purchase one as HMD Global has released Nokia 6 (2018) in the country.
The second-generation Nokia 6 brings considerable improvements compared to its predecessor. It has a better processor and more RAM aside from a USB Type-C port. The original Nokia 6 had a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor while the 2018 iteration has the Snapdragon 630. It also features 4GB of RAM instead of 3GB.
No major changes have been made to the design of the device. It looks quite similar to its predecessor with the fingerprint sensor placement being an exception as it’s now at the back of the device. It retains the 5.5 inch 1080p display and the 16 megapixel rear camera.
Since it has a USB Type-C port, the company says that the charger can now deliver up to 50 percent power in 30 minutes. The handset runs Android 8.0 Oroe out of the box.
Customers who are interested in picking one up can now do so for $270 unlocked at Amazon.
