So by now comic book fans have probably heard that Sony is releasing a new Venom movie later this year. The movie will star Tom Hardy in the role of Eddie Brock/Venom and just a couple of months ago, the first trailer for the movie was released. Unfortunately the trailer failed to give us a clue as to what Venom might look like.
The good news is that Sony has since released a new trailer for the upcoming movie. This trailer runs longer than the previous one and actually shows what Venom in this particular movie looks like. While it was a rather brief appearance, we have to admit that it does look considerably better than Topher Grace’s Venom from Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3 back in 2007.
He seems particularly more menacing in this movie and also sports the bulk that Venom is known for, at least in the comics. However the brief appearance of Venom in the movie doesn’t tell us if he will be sporting the spider emblem on his chest that you will typically find from Venom designs in the comics.
It is possible that Sony’s latest Venom movie might try to approach it from a grittier angle (think Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy), and the trailer certainly seems to hint at that. Either way so far so good, but we’ll still have to wait until the 5th of October for its release.
