LG recently announced the creation of a new division with the sole purpose of speeding up Android updates for its users. The Software Upgrade Center is now going to push out its first update for the company’s handsets. LG has confirmed that the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the LG G6 is going to start rolling out next week. The rollout will begin from April 30th to be precise.

Do keep in mind, though, that despite LG’s announcement that the LG G6 is going to get its Oreo update tomorrow, it’s going to take some time before all variants of this handset get Oreo. It’s merely starting the rollout tomorrow and given how Android updates work, it may be a couple of days before all variants of the LG G6 get Oreo.

The company itself mentions in the press release that this update will first be rolled out to the G6 in its home country of South Korea. Other markets will get it after that and those in the United States can expect to wait even longer as carriers take up additional time to push the updates through.

LG does mention in the press release that the artificial intelligence features that it introduced with the V30S ThinQ will be coming to the G6 with this update.
