According to reports, it seems that Google might have hinted at such gestures on its Android blog where in the screenshot above and to the left, it shows what appears to be a navigation bar at the bottom of the display similar to that of the new “home button” on the iPhone X. What made it even more suspicious is that Google removed and edited said screenshot afterwards, resulting in the screenshot in the image above to the right.
As it stands Android P is currently in developer preview and given that its release probably won’t happen until much later in the year, we’re not surprised if Google could be trying out and testing new features until then. It is also possible that the version they’re testing might not be the version that is available to developers, which is why we’re only seeing it now.
Whether or not this is something that they plan on working towards remains to be seen, but what do you guys think? Are iPhone X-like gestures something you might be interested in seeing in future Android handsets?
