The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge should soon receive Android 8.0 Oreo as they’re the next albeit outdated flagship models in the company’s lineup. It has already released the update for more recent devices and even premium mid-range devices such as the Galaxy A5 (2017). So when will the Galaxy S7 get it? A Samsung-owned site suggests that the Galaxy S7 Oreo release will take place next month.
It’s no secret that Samsung has been developing Oreo for the Galaxy S7 as the handset is due to receive one major Android platform update before its two years are up. It’s only a matter of time before Samsung releases Oreo for this handset.
Samsung Turkey runs a website that lets users find out if an update is available for their device or when the next update will likely go live. The time schedules on this website have often been accurate in the past.
According to this website, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge Android 8.0 Oreo rollout will begin on May 18th. That’s a little under a month from now. Do bear in mind, though, that even if that’s the day the update is released, it might still take a while for all users across the globe to finally get a taste of Oreo.
The schedule isn’t set in stone and may be changed. It also doesn’t suggest the timeline for release in other markets.
