Unfortunately it seems that those monthly updates will be coming to an end. In an announcement on the Battlefield website, DICE has announced that they will be ending the monthly updates to the game starting in June 2018. However not to worry because while monthly updates are ending, DICE has stated that maps from the game’s They Shall Not Pass expansion will are being rolled out to players, so players will have those maps to contend with.
According to DICE, “We’re continuing monthly updates for Battlefield 1 until June 2018, in which you can expect fresh content together with various tweaks and fixes for the player experience. As you may have seen on the Updates Page, these updates can cover anything: matchmaking, weapon balancing, even Dreadnought horns that sometimes won’t stop blaring.”
It’s not surprising that DICE is winding down their monthly updates to the game. After all this is something that they have been doing since the game’s release back in 2016. It also stands to assume that with DICE winding things down with Battlefield 1, it could signal that EA could be gearing up to launch the next title in the Battlefield franchise, although no official announcements have been made yet.
